Africa is a continent with a vast territorial extension, composed of 54 countries, and in this immensity of the continent, many of its countries have some peculiar names, many of them originating from the local languages, while the others were assigned by the settlers.

It should be noted here that some of the territories that we know today as isolated countries, were formerly part of some kingdoms that occupied vast territorial dimensions, as is the case, for example, with the Kingdom of Kongo, which occupied countries such as Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon.
The borders that we know today were imposed by Europe through the division made in Berlin, which brought about this new geographic division that limited the connection of peoples in many aspects.
In this article we are going to know the names of some African countries and the respective etymological origin of the name.
