MAGNITUDE 5.3 OCEAN EARTHQUAKE MAKES CAPE VERDE TREMBLE AT EARLY THURSDAY

The earthquake, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale, caused a brief earthquake, of moderate intensity, which was felt on several islands, but particularly on Santo Antão and São Vicente, around 3.16 am this Thursday, 26 January.
There is no record of any damage or injury because the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics, in São Vicente, has not yet provided any information to the press.
International agencies specialized in monitoring earthquakes have not launched any tsunami warnings near Cape Verde but guarantee that in the next few days, light or moderate earthquakes may occur, mainly in areas closer to the epicenter.
