Aquiles de Oliveira Stadium does not offer conditions for the final of the Cape Verde Super Cup, says ARFB president
City of Nova Sintra, January 7, 2025 (Bravanews) - The President of the Brava Regional Football Association, Samuel Varela, made statements on social media about the current state of the Aquiles de Oliveira Stadium, in relation to the possibility of hosting the final of the Cape Verdean Super Cup. Varela highlighted that, from the beginning, the possibility of holding the event in Brava was considered by the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF), but questioned the conditions of the stadium.
“From the beginning, the idea of FCF holding the Cape Verde Super Cup here in Brava was considered first. But be careful, the state of degradation in which the Aquiles de Oliveira Stadium is currently… Do you think it is worthy of hosting an event of this magnitude without any improvements as scheduled?”, wrote the director.
Despite acknowledging the existence of grass and goals, Samuel Varela stressed that the stadium's conditions are far from being suitable for a large-scale event like the Super Cup, drawing attention to the need for intervention.
Varela's statement raises questions about the future of the event and the need for improvements to the sports infrastructure on Brava Island to host events of this magnitude.
