The mayor of Brava said he had received a notification from the CNE, but argues that the programs and projects for the year 2020 approved by the Municipal Assembly “should not and cannot stop because of the elections”.

Francisco Tavares was speaking to the press about the denunciation and the complaint filed by the Regional Political Commission of the PAICV with the National Election Commission (CNE) and a complaint to the Court of the District of Brava.

The mayor alleged that the PAICV is “confusing the implementation of the chamber's activity plan in the social area as an attempt or buying votes” and that it will answer the CNE literally.

“Nowadays, no one sells their conscience for a bag of cement or anything like that”, guaranteed the mayor, accusing the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) of presenting photographs of social actions by the chamber to support families still during the period when there was no restriction or legal limitation for the chamber to continue with this work.

Notwithstanding, the photographs, Francisco Tavares underlined that they became aware via Facebook of unauthorized filming of chamber employees unloading a shipment of cement for municipal works that are taking place and will take place until after the elections, because, “the maintenance project for municipal roads It's already six years old."

He also advanced that there are some situations of the implementation of the Rehabilitation Requalification and Accessibility Program (PRRA) in the area of social housing in which the works were on the way and will continue with this work.

Hence, he underlined that it is not known what the PAICV's understanding in this regard is, questioning whether because of the elections a family bathroom should remain unfinished for a period of two to three months.

Or else, you question whether a family that was on the second list of the PRRA to be benefited and it was not because of the effects of covid-19 on the State Budget and at that time the municipality and these families affirmed an agreement in which they entered with 50 or 60 percent (%) and the chamber entered with the other part for the reinforced concrete will be without the supports.

Regarding the circulation of cars, he stressed that they must specify which vehicle because that of the mayor is contemplated in the law for its use, and those that are available to the Civil Protection Service have to circulate mainly since the pandemic situation, taking into account the responsibilities that have.
