Brava: Strong forces come together to create the Municipal Committee for the Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents

The living forces of Ilha Brava meet this afternoon with the aim of discussing and creating the Municipal Committee for the Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents, as indicated in the Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA).

In a press release sent to Inforpress by the Delegation of the Cabo Verdean Institute for Children and Adolescents (ICCA), it is noted that within the scope of the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Combat of Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents 2022-2024, saw the “necessity” for the creation and operation of the Municipal Committee for the Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents on the island of Brava.

The meeting, as highlighted by the same source, aims to talk about the subject, its importance, define who will be part of the committee's governing body, as well as discuss the problems of childhood on the island and draw up plans of activities.

Citing the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA) in its article 74° point 2, the note points out that “the Municipal Committees are administrative bodies at the municipal level, constituted by representatives of the public and private institutions that provide services in the municipality”.
