Bravenses call for consensus in local policy for the island's development
Bravenses contacted today by Inforpress envisioned a year 2025 with improvements in several sectors, at a local level, and called for more jobs for young people and a consensus between the council and the municipal assembly, with a focus on development.
Most of those interviewed called for understanding from the leaders of the city council and the assembly for the good development of the island in the coming years.
According to Carlos de Gabriel, the hope for this new year is improvements in terms of employment, health and transport, as these are the key areas for the development of the municipality.
“I know it won’t be easy. With the arrival of the new council team, I hope they will show common sense and work towards the development of our beloved island. We need more jobs, as young people are leaving Brava due to a lack of resources,” he said.
In this sense, Carlos de Gabriel appealed to the Government to pay more attention to Brava Island in this new year, taking into account that it also needs a different direction.
Alfredo Teixeira, who is a retired emigrant, also shares the same opinion regarding the areas that need development, but he also called for consensus in the local political area taking into account the recent change in the municipality.
“The island will be governed by a different chamber and assembly, but I hope they reach an understanding in favor of the development of Brava, which is extremely important,” he stressed.
In turn, António Santiago also envisaged improvements in all sectors, namely in health, transport, employment and others.
“We want more job openings, because if the island had a source of income for young people, everyone would still be here because, with each passing day, people are leaving our municipality and this is worrying. That is why I call for the improvement and development of Brava for everyone”, he concluded.
