Cape Verdean Sports Day celebrated in Brava

The morning began with the exciting Senior Men's athletics race, which covered the challenging route from Cachaço to Nova Sintra. In a tight contest, José da Luz Rosário took home the victory with an impressive time of 34 minutes. In the Senior Female category, on the Nossa Senhora do Monte - Nova Sintra route, the only participant, Patrícia Duarte, won first place.

In the afternoon, the Nossa Senhora do Monte Polivalente was the scene of intense U14 futsal games, involving the Benfica Sports Initiation Schools of NSM, Nataly of Nova Sintra and Furna. The Benfica de NSM school emerged as the winner of the tournament, defeating the Furna school 3-1 in the final.

In Senior Men's basketball, the Furna team showed its prowess by beating the NSM team by 34-16.

In addition to the competitions, a short talk about prostate cancer was given by nurse João da Cruz, in line with Blue November. The lecture covered causes, symptoms and treatment options.

The City Council expressed its gratitude to the Sports and Youth Institute, the National Police, the Municipal Civil Protection, the futsal and basketball referees, the Athletics Association, the media, the Brava Health Department and all collaborators , participants and athletes who contributed to the success of this event.

Mr. João Rodrigues received special thanks for his support in the organization, highlighting the importance of Desporto Brava and the exceptional work of the monitors at the sports initiation schools with the children.
