Cape Verde sees China as a development model and seeks deeper cooperation

Cape Verdean politician Josina Fortes expressed admiration for China's development model, calling it a model for the small African nation. During a recent visit to China, Fortes, deputy leader of the Independent Parliamentary Group in Cape Verde, praised China's "down-to-earth and distinctive" approach to modernization.

The legislator believes that closer collaboration between Cape Verde and China can generate substantial benefits for both countries. While acknowledging China's current role as a benefactor, Fortes envisions a future of mutually beneficial partnerships, particularly in tourism and culture. With tourism representing a significant part of Cape Verde's GDP, Fortes highlighted the potential to boost the sector through deeper integration with the expanding Chinese tourism sector.

Fortes' visit comes after the Chinese Communist Party's resolve to further deepen reform and open up the Chinese economy. She sees this as a positive development that could create even more opportunities for Cape Verde.
