Cape Verde government guarantees 11 million dollars to reinforce TACV fleet
The Cape Verde government has granted sovereign guarantees of 11 million dollars to TACV for the leasing of two ATR-72 600 aircraft. The measure aims to strengthen inter-island connections after the departure of the only airline operator that used to operate these flights. TACV, which previously operated only international routes, is looking to expand its fleet to four aircraft and increase its domestic flights.
The Cape Verdean government has authorized the granting of two sovereign guarantees worth a total of 11 million dollars to the airline Transportes Aéreos de Cabo Verde (TACV) for the leasing of two planes for inter-island connections.
The contract will be signed with the company Truenoord, which specializes in regional aviation.
The eight-year operational leasing contract will be signed with Truenoord, a company specializing in regional aviation, and includes two ATR-72 600 aircraft. The measure was made official by a resolution of the Council of Ministers published on Wednesday (5).
The decision comes in the context of the departure of the only airline operator that ensured inter-island connectivity, about a year ago. Since then, TACV has been guaranteeing internal mobility through an emergency contract to provide domestic air transportation services.
At the time, TACV was the only airline to provide inter-island connectivity.
Until recently, TACV only operated international routes. However, the government, as the majority shareholder, has recognized the public interest in supporting the company in expanding its domestic operations.
The carrier has announced that it will provide domestic air transport services.
The carrier announced at the beginning of the year a plan to expand its inter-island fleet to four aircraft, with the aim of increasing the number of seats and the frequency of flights between the islands of the archipelago.
