A delegation from the Intermunicipal Community of the West (OesteCIM) participated in the 'Local Governance and Sustainable Development' Conference in Cape Verde, where they presented the 'Oeste Smart Region' project. The objective was to share experiences and good practices in public management with Cape Verdean municipalities, especially with regard to the use of data and technologies to improve citizens' quality of life.

The president of OesteCIM, Pedro Folgado, highlighted the importance of sharing Portuguese experiences in areas such as education, health and social action, which are being decentralized to municipalities. OesteCIM's executive secretary, Paulo Simões, emphasized the need for local governance that is closer to the people and capable of responding to the challenges of environmental and social sustainability.

During the visit, a cooperation protocol was signed between OesteCIM, the Association of Municipalities on the island of Santiago and ISCSP, aiming to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and experiences. The event, which brought together mayors, businesspeople, teachers and students, addressed topics such as decentralized cooperation, the evaluation of public policies and smart territories.
