PAICV Deputy, João Antonio Coelho, reinforces demands to Brava City Council regarding financial and investment documentation
Brava, September 1, 2024 (Bravanews) — Deputy João Antonio Coelho, from the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), for the Municipal Assembly of Brava intensified the pressure on the Municipal Council of Brava regarding the lack of presentation of quarterly balance sheets, reports and accounts for the year 2023 and part of 2024. The parliamentarian also questions the municipality about the fate of the 200 thousand contos, equivalent to around 2 million dollars, which were loaned to the bank.
The congressman expressed concerns about the lack of scheduled meetings to discuss financial documents, which are essential to ensuring transparency in public management. He demands clarification on the use of the loan and the returns generated by such investments, seeking to ensure that public resources are being applied effectively and for the benefit of the community.
In response to criticism and questions, the Mayor of Brava announced via social media that the financial report has already been finalized and that a meeting to present it will be scheduled soon. The head of the municipality assured that the documents will be available for public analysis and that transparency will be maintained.
The situation highlights the growing demand for accountability and clarity in the management of public funds, reflecting the ongoing need for dialogue and oversight in local institutions.
