The "Akranes", with its impressive 30 meters in length, appears as a significant response to current and future transport needs between Brava, Fogo and surrounding areas. With the capacity to accommodate 60 passengers inside and 40 outside, in addition to a versatile room/stateroom that can be adapted for medical functions in evacuations, the boat promises to offer a unique tourist experience.

The proposal is for "Akranes" to act as a tour operator, providing daily trips between Brava, Fogo and Brava, with carefully planned itineraries to align with flight schedules between Praia and São Filipe. Furthermore, the vessel will offer tourist tours around the islands and islets, expanding leisure options for visitors.

The versatility of the boat stands out, which, whenever necessary, will be available for extra trips dedicated to medical evacuations and passenger transport. The promoters' optimistic forecast suggests that "Akranes" operations could begin as early as May or June 2024.

The Port of Furna will be chosen as the vessel's overnight stop, further consolidating the commitment to local development. The initiative, financed by private investors, is seen as a fundamental piece for the region's growth in the short and medium term.

CMB expressed its enthusiasm for the project, highlighting that the private sector deserves everyone's support and affection. The expectation is that "Akranes" will not only boost tourism in the region, but also serve as an inspiring example of public-private partnerships for sustainable development.
