After heavy rains, street cleaning begins in Brava and CMB mobilizes resources to restore normality
Nova Sintra, September 9, 2023 - After the intense and persistent rain that hit the island of Brava in recent days, the Brava City Council (CMB) is taking energetic measures to recover and clean the affected streets. The city of Nova Sintra and many other locations faced severe flooding and problems with accumulation of debris, but now the city council is making an effort to restore normality.
CMB announced that it is mobilizing a total of 42 temporary workers, in addition to the 15 municipal employees, for the necessary cleaning operations throughout Brava. The action aims to unblock public roads, remove mud and debris, and ensure safety and accessibility in areas affected by the rains.
In addition to CMB's efforts, in some areas, local communities have been instrumental in recovering after natural disasters. Some volunteers joined the cleaning crews to help remove debris and mud from homes and streets.
The President of Brava City Council, Francisco Tavares, said on social media that everything will be done to restore normality as quickly as possible.
In addition to cleaning operations, CMB is also working on prevention measures to prevent future flooding and improve the city's drainage infrastructure.
