Amandio Brito, PAICV candidate, promotes consultation with emigrants for Brava Island governance project
Pawtucket, August 20, 2024 (Bravanews) — Amandio Brito, candidate of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) in this year's local elections, is promoting a process of inclusion of Brava's emigrants. Before defining his governance project for the next four years, Brito seeks to listen to the ideas and proposals of the expatriate community.
This weekend, Brito will be in Pawtucket (CACD) and New Bedford (Bisca Club), two important cities with significant Brava communities. On August 24, Brito will hold a session in Pawtucket and, the following day, August 25, in New Bedford. During these events, emigrants will have the opportunity to share their opinions and suggestions about the future of Brava Island, contributing to the development of an action plan that reflects the needs and expectations of the diaspora.
The move is part of Brito’s commitment to a democratic and participatory process, ensuring that the voice of emigrants is heard in the formulation of public policies that will impact the island’s development. The inclusion of the expatriate community is seen as a crucial step in ensuring that the governance project is comprehensive and representative.
The events are open to the public and aim to foster constructive dialogue between political leadership and the Cape Verdean community abroad, highlighting the importance of collaboration between all stakeholders in the sustainable development of Brava Island.
