Andy Andrade criticizes isolation of Brava island and questions effectiveness of maritime concession
Nova Sintra City, March 1, 2025 (Bravanews) - Following the controversy involving a young candidate from Brava who was barred from participating in a Bank of Cape Verde (BCV) tender due to the island's isolation, Andy Andrade, a retired emigrant, businessman and founder of CVFast Ferry (CVFF), expressed his indignation and questioned the effectiveness of the current maritime transport concession.

Andrade, known for his involvement in the maritime sector in Cape Verde, claims that the island of Brava has "always been disadvantaged" by the lack of reliable maritime connections. The businessman questions why the concession signed in 2019 and the "more than $3,000,000,000 in subsidies" granted so far have not solved the problem of the island's isolation.
"Brava has always suffered. The concession signed in 2019 and the more than 3,000,000,000$ in subsidies so far have not solved this situation?" Andrade asks, in a direct criticism of the management of maritime transport in the country.
The founder of CVFF argues that his company, which operated between 2014 and 2019, would have been a more efficient and economical solution for the state. "It would have been better to stay with CVFF, which at least cost the state nothing from 2014 to 2019 and was already earning dividends by now (2025)..." says Andrade.
Andrade concludes his statement with a plea for "better days" for the island of Brava, expressing the hope that the isolation situation will finally be resolved.
