António da Lomba, president of the club and school of Benfica da Brava, regrets the situation the club and the school are going through at the moment, “compromising” the club’s participation in the 19/20 sports season.

In conversation with Inforpress, António da Lomba explained that the reason why the club does not participate in the championship this season is the lack of conditions to train.

According to him, the Nossa Senhora do Monte multipurpose facility has been under construction for a long time, the Mato one was under construction and opened recently and the club does not have the conditions to come and train in Vila de Nova Sintra every day.

At the moment, he added that even the activities of the football school with the children and the younger layer are compromised.

"It's not that I'm criticizing, but since the polyvalent ended we've been disoriented and during the holidays, some activities we did were expensive, taking into account that we brought our students from Nossa Senhora do Monte to Vila de Nova Sintra", stressed the leader.

He also added that it is in this multipurpose space that the club has its headquarters, but that at the moment, their “hands are tied”, as they do not have space to carry out activities.

During the school holidays, António da Lomba reinforced that the youth of the parish and surroundings were often left “from one side to the other”, because in the locality it is the only place where they can play or have fun, taking into account that the Mato was under construction.

However, he added that they are waiting for the completion of the works to resume training and work with the school, with a view to participating next year with “better organization and determination”.
