The relatives of Brice Mike Ndjay, a 33-year-old young man who was attacked on the 4th of June and died in Fogo on the 14th, are once again asking for speed to justice and the release of the body for the funeral.
Speaking to Inforpress, João da Graça Furtado, the victim's father, said that on the night of June 5, another son knocked on his door to go to the place where his son had been beaten and pushed.
According to the same source, when they arrived at the scene, the son had already been rescued and taken to the Brava Health Department, so he immediately went to Nova Sintra to take stock of the situation and when he arrived at the station, he called the National Police who, upon seeing the young man's condition advised him to file a complaint, which he did even before returning home.
On the 7th, he advanced that the young man was urgently transferred to the Fogo e Brava Regional Hospital, taking into account the seriousness in which he was.
In view of the diagnosis, he continued, the son was hospitalized, having been drained of the blood he had due to the wound supposedly caused with a knife and the blows he received in the fall when he was dropped from a wall about 5 meters high. height.
When they arrived in Fogo, the information that the doctors gave the relatives, as the victim's father said, is that he would be transferred to the Agostinho Neto University Hospital, in the city of Praia, but that whenever they were asked about the reason for such a delay they said they were waiting for the ambulance and in Fogo he saw his son die without being able to do anything.
The family members are unhappy with the waiting time for the autopsy to be carried out, which until then, 13 days later, has not yet been done and, consequently, the body has not been released so that the family members can carry out the funeral ceremonies.
João da Graça Furtado stressed that an aunt of his son came from Senegal to take part in the funeral ceremonies, with a 15-day leave, but she is getting anxious and sad because she is not sure if she will be able to accompany her nephew to his last address.
In this sense, he asks for a little more speed with the carrying out of the autopsy, recognizing that the country does not have many medical examiners, but that from the city of Praia to the island of Fogo it is a few minutes by flight and that with little effort it is possible to carry out the autopsy.
He added that the body is in Mosteiros because the cold room at Hospital São Francisco de Assis was not in functional condition to store the body.
As for the alleged aggressor who is still at large, he says he prefers not to speak, because the case is under the jurisdiction of justice, but he underlined that the situation is revolting the entire community of Brave, mainly because the accused has threatened his other daughters and Threats are addressed through social networks to family members, thus creating a bit of fear and insecurity within this family.
