Attempted robbery at former prime minister's residence

The residence of the former prime minister, José Maria Neves, was the target of an attempted robbery last night, as he himself announced on his personal Facebook page.

The former head of government, who released this information an hour ago, said that he had already informed the authorities of this attempt, which was being orchestrated by three individuals.

José Maria Neves governed Cape Verde for 15 consecutive years, with an absolute majority in Parliament.

During his administration, his son, José Luís Neves, was the target of an assassination attempt from which he left with serious injuries.

José Maria Neves is seen as a potential candidate for the next presidential elections, in 2021, although he has not yet made any official statement in this regard.
