Local Elections/Capital. Abraão Vicente challenges PAICV opponent to debate
MpD candidate also urges media outlets to promote debates between candidates
Abraão Vicente, MpD candidate for Mayor of Praia, launched a public challenge to Francisco Carvalho, for a debate within the framework of the Local Elections, with no date yet set.
The MpD candidate wants to be face to face with his opponent from the PAICV, and at the same time urges the media to promote debates between the candidates.
In a post, Abraão Vicente leaves any topic open to discussion and says that a debate is important to discuss points of view. “I challenge the current incumbent to debate,” he said, arguing that debates are essential in democracies.
“Not engaging in dialogue, not being accountable is a trick and a strategy used by those who don’t get results,” he argued.
“I challenge Francisco Carvalho to not be afraid, to have courage and to take responsibility”, he says in a video published on his personal account.
The possible debate, adds Vicente, should take place on the day and time that Francisco Carvalho wants, and can address any topics he wishes.
