Clóvis Isildo da Lomba Barbosa da Silva, 41, is the PAICV (opposition) candidate for the October 25 municipal elections for the Municipality of Brava.

Clóvis Silva, married, father of four children all from Brave, was born on the 10th of November 1978 in the parish of Nossa Senhora da Graça, in the city of Praia, on the island of Santiago.

The candidate of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), as he was the son of a government delegate at the time, came to Brava Island as a baby and at the age of six, and his childhood and adolescence was spent between Cape Verde, Angola, Italy and the USA.

Upon returning to Cape Verde, he studied until the 12th grade and then got a scholarship to study law at the Fluminense Federal University – State of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

On January 22, 2004, he was appointed Judge at the Court of the District of Brava, where he worked for four years, having also been transferred to the District of Santa Catarina (Santiago).

Two years later, he applied for a license, left the judiciary, enrolled with the Bar Association and opened a law firm on Brava.

Clóvis Silva has been deputy of the Nation for the Brava constituency since 2011 to date.

He dedicated himself to civil movements and organizations, being an international consultant in Gender Matters, founder of Laço Branco Cabo Verde, among several other movements.

Clóvis Silva is running for mayor of Brava with Francisco Tavares, MpD candidate.

In the last municipal elections of September 4, 2016, the seventh held in Cape Verde to choose the holders of the municipal bodies of Brava, a total of two candidates ran, with the MPD (Orlando Balla) achieving 1,673 of the votes (58.99% ), and the PAICV (Manuel Gomes) achieved 1,111 of the votes (39.17%).

For the October 25 municipal elections, a total of 4,830 voters are provisionally registered in the electoral rolls (in 2016 the number of registered voters was 4,435, of which 2,836 voted).
