The Regional Political Commission of the PAICV in Brava today filed a complaint against some actions of the City Council to the National Elections Commission (CNE) and a complaint to the Court of the Comarca of Brava.
The Regional Political Commission of the PAICV in Brava today filed a complaint against some actions of the City Council to the National Elections Commission (CNE) and a complaint to the Court of the Comarca of Brava.
The information was given to the press by the chairman of the Commission of the African Independence Party of Cape Verde (PAICV), Carlos Costa, claiming that we are talking about a council that “over the four years of its mandate has not supported families with cement and Less than two months before the elections, he started distributing large amounts of cement to some families”.
“We know that every year during the rainy season families may need some support to improve some aspects of their homes, however, in the previous three years the council did not provide them with anything in terms of cement”, said the official.
According to the same source, "in this last year, less than two months before the elections, the council had already received a large quantity of cement that had already been distributed and in the last few days it received another shipment that they started distributing today", he denounced, adding that filed a complaint with the CNE delegation on the island.
In addition to this complaint, the PAICV also filed a complaint with the Court of the Comarca da Brava, about State cars that, allegedly, have been circulating at night in all locations, “in an authentic race to hunt for votes and to condition the reality and the will of the people”.
Faced with these facts, Carlos Costa asks the CNE to carry out its work with “discipline and insight”, as well as encouraging the population to denounce actions of the type whenever they are aware, as he reinforced that this period “is not conducive and is prohibited by the law".
“We are going to an election where we want the population to choose in conscience the ruler they think is best. Not with tricks and last minute games to condition the elections in Brava and the real feeling of the population”, concluded Carlos Costa.
