Brava, a vision of the future and opportunities, from the perspective of businessman Pancini
Nova Sintra City, January 25, 2025 (Bravanews) - In an inspiring dialogue, the new mayor of Brava, Amândio Brito, had the opportunity to talk with one of the most renowned figures in the tourism sector, Italian businessman Pancini, who shared his vast experience and vision for the future of the island of Brava. The conversation was marked by moments of bonding, learning and, above all, recognizing opportunities for the island's development.
Pancini, who has become a leading figure in the tourism and investment sector in Cape Verde, recounted how he arrived on Boavista more than three decades ago, when the island was still practically a desert. "At that time, the island had only about four cars and a much smaller population than Brava. The international airport didn't exist yet, and the only weekly flight was made by a Twin Otter carrying just 19 passengers," said the businessman, with the nostalgia of someone who has witnessed the transformation of the island of the dunes.
According to Pancini, Boavista's evolution over the years is a clear example of how an island's potential can be exploited, provided there is strategic planning and investment. Currently, the island of Boavista has around 50 international flights a week, operated by large aircraft such as Boeing and Airbus, and a tourist flow of up to 18,000 guests a week in its luxury hotels, with a modern infrastructure of 300 rooms.
"I see Brava as a treasure yet to be discovered, but with enormous potential. The island is more advanced than Boavista was 30 years ago, and with the right conditions, it could be one of Cape Verde's main tourist destinations," said the Italian businessman, pointing to priority areas for local development. One of the main challenges he cited was the urgent need to improve the island's connectivity, especially maritime transport, in order to guarantee more frequent connections and facilitate access for tourists and investors.
He also highlighted the importance of creating an environment of trust and collaboration between the public and private sectors, stressing that investments in infrastructure and services must be made strategically, always prioritizing sustainable development and the preservation of what makes the island of Brava unique.
The conversation between CMB president Amândio Brito and Pancini was a real lesson in entrepreneurial vision and a rich exchange of experiences. The municipal leader showed great interest in the proposals and visions presented by the businessman, indicating that the municipality of Brava is open to dialogue and partnership for the development of the island.
At the end of the meeting, Pancini and his wife Maria Rosa were awarded the title of Honorary Citizens of Brava Island, in recognition of the couple's work and contribution to the development of Cape Verde. The ceremony, which marked a short stop but was of great value to those present, was a symbol of the strengthening of relations between the businessmen and the local authorities, with the aim of transforming the island into an even more promising tourist destination.
"Thank you, friend Pancini, and your wife Maria Rosa. Brava has a lot to learn from this experience," said Amândio Brito, in a gesture of gratitude for the couple's contribution to the island's future.
This meeting reinforced the importance of exchanging ideas and working together between local leaders and investors, pointing to a more prosperous and sustainable future for the island of Brava, which is increasingly prepared to stand out on the international stage.
