The ambassadors of the “Less alcohol, more life” campaign on Brava are carrying out a campaign to raise awareness and pass on information about the new Alcohol Law, in commercial establishments, production and sale of alcoholic beverages.

Speaking to Inforpress, Simão Borges, spokesman for the group, explained that this awareness action is being carried out over the weekend, in partnership with the National Police and the Brava City Council, whose objective is to “refresh” the new Law do Álcool, framing it within the “Less alcohol, more life” campaign.

The same source added that the intention is to go through all the establishments on the island, where in this first phase, a pedagogical approach is being carried out and, later, within a period to be stipulated, the team returns to the field, together with the other competent entities, to the inspection and application of fines and fines, if they do not comply with the law.

According to the spokesperson, this approach falls mainly on advertisements for alcoholic beverages that are often found in establishments, including tables and chairs with beverage brands.

At the beginning of last year, the new alcohol law was approved (Law No. 51/IX/2019), which establishes the regime for the provision, sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places, places open to the public and workplaces of services and bodies of central and local public administration and private entities.

This same law presents changes on the consumption, trade and promotion of alcoholic beverages in the country.

In addition to this awareness campaign, the ambassadors are organizing another “online show” with local artists, but this time, it will be held in the parish of Nossa Senhora do Monte.

The campaign “Less alcohol, more life” is promoted by the Presidency of the Republic and other institutions and is being carried out in close partnership with the Ministries of Health and Social Security, Education and Family and Social Inclusion, the World Health Organization ( WHO) and more than a hundred state and civil society institutions throughout the national territory.

The objective of the initiative is to prevent and reduce the abuse of alcoholic beverages, through actions that bring about behavioral changes, with the adoption of healthy lifestyles, in close articulation with the reduction of access to them.

On Brava, the campaign was presented in mid-May 2019, by the program coordinator, Manuel Faustino.
