Speaking to Inforpress, Dheeraj Jayant explained that this training is part of the activity plan outlined for the current year and that after the financial education there will be, later this year, another training, this time in Quality Control, also aimed at this target audience.
According to the same source, the aim is to involve all people from the three fishing communities on the island (Furna, Fajã d´Água and Lomba Tantum) recalling that last week a group of 25 fishermen from these communities completed a course in Navigation in the High Seas and Capture techniques.
And at the end of this training in financial education, he added that kits will be offered to these women, which include some materials they use in their day-to-day tasks, from a knife, utensils to place the fish, scales, among others.
In the training, the trainer, Mário Soares highlighted that he intends to make them aware of the necessary tools in their daily activities, namely, how to manage, the ways of saving that they can adopt, among other techniques.
In short, it showed that the 13 women and the only male who participated in this training will have the opportunity to learn about all the tools so that, in the performance of their daily activities, they can have a good management of their financial resources, making responsible use of the money they have.
Sónia Baptista, one of the trainees, stressed that her expectations are high, as she intends, with this training, to learn ways of managing her money because, in addition to selling fish, she is trained in fish processing, having the need to learn to do some managing your money to be able to calculate your income.
Likewise, Ana Macedo, another trainee, wants to learn how to manage her income and have knowledge in the area that allows her to calculate what she has, what she invests, what she receives and the profit in terms of money.
The training is being organized by Biflores in partnership with the Municipality of Brava, the GEF Small Grants Programme, the Embassy of the United States of America, among other partners, and will last for three weeks.
Biflores is a biodiversity conservation association, based on Brava Island, whose purpose is the protection and conservation of marine and terrestrial ecosystems, their biodiversity and natural resources, as well as promoting the involvement and sustainable development of the community on the island. .
