The beneficiaries of project I of the Brava Employment and Employability Network, which aims to transform, preserve and market fish, today started the recycling phase to then start the production process.

Speaking to Inforpress, João José Delgado, project manager I informed that this group of 17 young beneficiaries, who have already created a cooperative, is already in the final stretch of the training started in 2019 and in mid-April they will be able to start production.

João José spoke on the sidelines of training in “recycling” that is being given to these beneficiaries, stressing that they are working, also at this stage, to transform the cooperative into a semi-enterprise, justifying that in this way the income will be totally different.

According to the same source, the members of the cooperative bodies have already been elected and are also gaining knowledge in the area of administrative secretariat, taking into account that it is a process that involves money and the search for financing, so that they can be aware of the necessary procedures. and legal for the purchase of materials and sale of products to later present the results to the financier as justification.

After this recycling phase, which is scheduled to end on Friday the 17th, it is intended to start production in mid-April with the arrival of another technician who will guide them in the first few days.

According to the same source, this project and the cooperative will create a new dynamic not only in the beneficiaries, but also in the valorization of the sea products that are found in Brava and sometimes in surplus, but which have not been used adequately.

Therefore, he stressed that the island now has local products to offer products to visitors, but that also in times when it is not possible to go out to work for various reasons and nature, there will always be products on the market.

In other words, he reinforced that this project will bring “a turnaround in the fishing sector on the island”.

As for the raw material, he underlined that they will create a chain between the cooperative, fishmongers and fishermen, in order to supply the raw material at an affordable price so that the products can also be sold at a reasonable price.

In turn, Helena Baptista, president of the cooperative recognized that the benefits of the project are several, listing the creation of jobs, the appreciation of local products and more opportunities for young people.

In this sense, he advanced that they will work within what they learned in training and with a view to expanding the business that they do not want to be restricted only to the Brava market.

It is a project that trained 17 young people, but this leader stressed that they are open to receive new young people who want to participate in the project, where they intend to make hamburgers, sausages, rolls, dried fish, salami, smoked fish, among others, from fish.
