Brava: Biflores warns of the need to conserve endemic fauna and flora

The Biflores association today carried out a series of activities with the aim of raising awareness in society about the need to conserve endemic fauna and flora, with activities presented by the community itself.

Speaking to Inforpress, Vani Furtado, a technician from Biflores, explained that the purpose of these activities is to raise people's awareness for the conservation of the environment, especially when talking about the endemic fauna and flora, which is very degraded, needing to take some measures to keep balance.

Hence, one of the ways found to make people aware of the need to intervene to improve the environment, said the official, was through a fashion show with endemic plants printed on costumes, theater and music.

All activities focused on environmental conservation, alerting people to what is happening in society.
According to her, if there is no balance in the ecosystem that is suffering every day with the actions of man, it will become difficult to get around the situation that has been getting worse, with signs presented in changes and climate change.
The coach underlined that to guarantee this balance, everyone needs to be aware and fight for the same cause, whose final intended result is to have a healthier environment.
Of the groups that participated, Igualdino da Lomba, president and director of the theater group Os Trapalhões, from Baleia, explained that the group presented a play to portray the work of Biflores, trying to raise awareness about the terrestrial and marine fauna and flora.

“The message was to draw the attention of shepherds and fishermen in order to improve their actions to protect the environment, but also to alert society about the current situation and what should be done to improve it”, highlighted the director.

In turn, Fernanda Burgo, from the women's group of the Catholic Church, stressed that they were invited by Biflores and decided to accept the challenge, since the objective, she said, is to work in the area of the environment, making known the endemic species of the country and Brava, but also on the issue of environmental conservation.

In the presentation, they tried to sensitize those present with messages for the preservation and conservation of the environment, also demonstrating the consequences that each “wrong” action brings to the environment.

Likewise, the women of the Church of Nazarenos had the opportunity to pass on information about the different endemic species of the country and the Brava, but also to present practical results of recycling waste.

An activity that received a positive note from the public who defended that activities of this type should be done frequently, as they were already used to a practice and abandoning it overnight is not easy, but with these actions “it is possible to reduce actions that harm nature”.

Biflores is a biodiversity conservation association, based on Brava Island, whose purpose is the protection and conservation of marine and terrestrial ecosystems, their biodiversity and natural resources, as well as promoting the involvement and sustainable development of the community on the island.
