Livestock breeders in the town of Cachaço, on Brava, say they are concerned about the “heavy losses” caused by stray dogs that have decimated their animals, their only source of income and livelihood.

Speaking to Inforpress, the young shepherd José da Luz said that they are “faced” with packs of stray dogs that have been killing their goats and lately their chickens, reinforcing that in that locality they have no other source of income or livelihood, the not be raising animals.

But, the biggest concern is in a few days or a month that, as the young man underlined, the goats will all have young, which makes it more difficult to escape the dogs' attack.

According to this young man, in the locality they cannot control these stray dogs because there are not three or four, but a pack.

Now, he said that as the new municipal elected officials were invested this Tuesday, they will wait a few more days to seek the support of the city council in order to find a solution together.

It should be noted that this is a problem that has been affecting breeders in the locality and throughout the island, year after year, with last August starting a campaign to capture stray dogs which caused some revolt within the population of Brave after the incineration of captured dogs that were being placed in Favatal.
