The Brava City Council honored today, Cape Verdean Women's Day, seven women, as a way of recognizing the “helpful contribution” made by each one in the development of the island in various sectors.

Speaking to the press, the Councilor for Social Promotion, Ivone Cardoso, explained that this initiative came about this year and the intention is to continue it over the years, as a way of honoring the women who, in a certain way, gave and still give their contribution to the development of the municipality, regardless of the area of intervention of each one.

Women with prominence in politics, education, social areas, health, culture and rural areas were honored.

In this sense, this person in charge reminded women that women's day is every day, as long as they believe in the strength and power that each one possesses.

Of the honorees, Margarida Ribeiro, stressed that this recognition has a great meaning for her, mainly because she is not recognized as a prominent woman in education, or politics or for any role she has played in the State, but rather as a woman in the middle rural area, which broke the taboo that there is work for men and women.

Because, according to her, she has always dedicated herself to agriculture and cattle raising, but also to other tasks that the rural world imposes to raise her four children who lost their father very early.

Therefore, she took the opportunity to warn the women that strength and courage are needed to achieve the objectives, without forgetting humility.

Fernanda Burgo, another honored for her work in politics, education and culture in the municipality, thanked for this initiative, stressing that the tribute has an important meaning, taking into account that she is part of Braveense society and already has 28 years of life active policy, representing Brave and Cape Verdean women.

According to the same source, Cape Verdean women are courageous, fighters and feel like one of them because women in political life “are not easy”, having to reconcile all other areas, from family to work.

For all women, he asks that each one always have a lot of love for themselves, but that they also have a “strong” conviction to fight for what they believe in, because only with daily struggle and willpower can they achieve everything they want. is designed and planned.
