The Municipal Civil Protection Service of Brava is in the final stages of preparing the Contingency Plan for the rainy season, alerting the population to always follow the recommendations made at national level.
The person responsible for the service at Brava, António Lopes, told Inforpress today that they are in the final stage of compiling the data for the preparation of the contingency plan, having already started some interventions on the ground, together with the Sanitation sector of the municipality, to better preparation.
According to the same source, the plan will be made available to all members of the Municipal Civil Protection Service and other entities in Brave so that they can be alert for any eventuality.
As for work on the ground, he highlighted that the cutting and pruning of trees have already started in some locations, as well as the owners and employees of mines extracting aggregates, where members of Civil Protection are carrying out inspections, but also recommending the cleaning of debris and sites after sand extraction.
Asked about the greatest risks on the island during the rainy season, this official explained that from what they have seen, in the case of rain or strong wind, the most common cases have been falls from trees, stones, obstruction of paths, problems with some houses which may run the risk of collapsing and some flooding.
As for the houses that present some risks, he underlined that he had already informed the social sector of the Municipality of Brava and that, in concert with the Civil Protection sector, they will work on some interventions in order to maintain their safety and minimize some risks.
But, he guaranteed, the Municipal Civil Protection Service has been acting promptly when some situations have arisen, and that this year the action will be in the same line, asking for the collaboration of all members of civil society.
