A group of thirty people started a training course on gender parity, which continues to this day, promoted by the Organization of Women of Cape Verde (OMCV).
OMCV social technician Carla dos Santos explained to Inforpress that the objective is to train community leaders, in order for them to reproduce knowledge on the matter in their communities.
In addition to this capacity-building action, he added that awareness-raising actions at the level of gender parity have already been carried out, as, according to the same, this work is carried out in stages, in the sense of giving continuity to this process.
Hence, he added, in addition to raising awareness, it is necessary to train people to replicate these training courses, as a “more proactive” measure, in the sense that OMCV has people capable of providing information on the matter in all communities.
According to her, it is necessary to talk about gender to work on parity, because, as she emphasized, it is not possible to talk about parity without having knowledge about gender.
During the training he said he tried to demonstrate to the trainees that as a human being the only difference that exists between a man and a woman is the sexual organs and that everyone has the same rights and should be given the same opportunities to achieve goals in life.
This action is in line with the Government's programme, which includes measures aimed at gender equality and the promotion of a parity law, which defines the criteria for equitable distribution of access between men and women to decision-making posts in the most varied sectors of life. economic, social and political.
