A set of activities of a cultural nature is being carried out in different areas of Brava Island, as a way to celebrate the Culture week, which culminates with the “Serenata Cabo Verde” on Friday, 18.

The councilor for culture, Edna Andrade, explained to Inforpress that the activities that started on Saturday, the 12th, and will run until the 18th, are to “celebrate the 152nd anniversary of the birth of Patron Eugénio Tavares” and the National Day of Culture, which is celebrated on the 18th of October.

According to the same source, these activities were programmed and are being carried out with aspects of Brave culture, as a way of keeping them alive for the younger layer and for the elderly to relive certain moments.

This year, instead of all activities being centralized in Nova Sintra, they are being carried out in a decentralized way, because, as he pointed out, there are always some difficulties for these areas to participate in the activities carried out in the village.

Hence, they intend to involve all communities, and sensitize some groups to participate, taking into account that “many do not participate because it is a contribution”.

During this week, traditional games are being held, baby dolls, out-of-season Sandjon glue, mast, pylon, out-of-season Carnival parade, 1960s parade, gastronomic night, handicraft exhibitions, among others.

The councilwoman appeals for everyone's participation, especially the young, as she considers and assumes that these activities lead them to get the taste for continuing the process.
