Brava's education delegate assured today that a support and recovery plan will be drawn up for students of the 1st cycle of the EBO in Fajã d'Água who, due to a landslide, are unable to get to school.
Speaking to the press, Orlando Burgo stressed that since last Saturday, the 21st, with the landslide, the town of Fajã d´Água has become impassable and, consequently, isolated, without communication with the rest of the island.
As for the school situation, he explained that students have been attending classes in Nova Sintra for some years, because the number of students did not justify it.
Therefore, continued the official, students from the 1st to the 4th year of the first cycle of Compulsory Basic Education (EBO) study in Cova Rodela, and those from the 2nd Cycle and Secondary Education study at Escola Senna Barcelos and Escola Secundária Eugénio Tavares .
With this situation, the delegate informed that the students, from the 5th year onwards, are attending classes normally, with some staying with relatives and friends in Nova Sintra, but those in the 1st cycle of the EBO, who study at the School de Cova Rodela, because they are younger, they have already missed a week of classes.
But, he added that in consultation with the Municipality of Brava, the municipality guaranteed that over the course of that week the access route from Fajã d´Água to the road section would be improved, allowing the circulation of vehicles and the mobility of students, with peace of mind.
At the moment, he underlined that the shared guidelines are that a recovery and support plan will be drawn up for all students from Fajã d´Água who were unable to attend classes during the week and that the entire team of the educational system is available to provide all the support, in order not to get lost and harmed in the teaching-learning process.
