Doctors and nurses from the Brava Health Department will start this Monday, 19th, a training course in the area of transport, preparation and administration of blood and blood components.

This information was advanced to Inforpress by nurse Patrícia Recheado, explaining that this training is part of the plan to implement a transfusion station on Brava Island.

According to the same source, this training will cover all nurses at the police station, doctors and laboratory technicians, in order to prepare them to receive, transport and conserve blood.

The health professional stressed that the person who will supply blood to the transfusion station in Brava will be the Blood Bank of the Hospital in the Fogo e Brava Sanitary Region.

As he indicated, in principle, the post will be supplied with two to three bags of blood and if there are no patients in need of receiving blood within the validity period, this will be sent to the Blood Bank in Fogo.

In addition, he stressed that this post will have the universal blood type available, in this case the 0-, reinforcing that the collection will not be carried out, taking into account the care required in this process.

He recalled that there have been some cases of patients who are transferred to the hospital in the health region and who often need blood and that with a post on the island, these patients will first be stabilized and then continue on their journey.

The training will be given by the hematologist and head of the National Transfusion Safety Program, Conceição Pinto, with a duration of four days, with theoretical and practical parts.
