Exhibitors at the 12th edition of the Agricultural and Livestock Fair on the island of Brava, entitled Feira Agropecuária e Inovações – FAI'23, are confident that the results will be “better and beneficial”.
The fair started today with a large number of visitors and the participation of 23 exhibitors from Brava and Fogo, with a diverse set of agricultural products, livestock, diversities in the area of cuisine, handicrafts, but also information, taking into account the participation from some institutions, companies and NGOs.
After the official opening, Inforpress learned about the expectations of some of the stallholders, who said they were confident that the results would be better than previous editions and much more beneficial.
João Tavares is an exhibitor from Brave and operates in the culinary field, and as he informed, his stand has seafood, from whelk, octopus, shrimp and squid.
Expectations are the best for this exhibitor who has advanced, who has been participating in this fair for many years and at each edition the focus and the set goal are always greater, taking into account the customers that he has already conquered in his day-to-day and during these editions of the fair.
Therefore, it calls for massive adherence by society in order to allow exhibitors to achieve their objectives.
Likewise, Rita Rodrigues, another exhibitor in the culinary field, said that since 2009 she has participated in these fairs, because for her, the symbol and meaning of São João sums up the fair and the Eucharistic celebration in honor of São João Baptista.
At his stand, he said that it is possible to find a bit of everything, but made with corn, from fonduinho, pastries, sweet potato cakes, banana, pumpkin, batanca, among other “earth-earth” products.
Expectations are the best and that's why he asks everyone to visit the fair to enjoy what the exhibitors have to offer.
As for the exhibitor, José Lopes came from the island of Fogo and, according to him, he has been actively participating for five years, although he has faced several difficulties this year in getting his products to the fair, due to the cost of transport and got no support.
For the public, it has to offer products such as watermelon, mancarra, fava beans, bongolon, corn, pumpkin, potatoes, among other agricultural products and hopes to sell it in order to recover what it has spent and make some profit.
The environmental association, Biflores, also participates in the fair, whose technician, Vani Furtado, said that they brought information about some activities they carry out on a daily basis, and one of the messages they want to pass on to the public is about the issue of sustainable grazing.
In this regard, he showed that they will present various resources that allow people to see and feel, that is, practical resources that he believes will contribute to improving the type of grazing practiced today and to achieve the objectives outlined by the non-governmental organization (NGO).
According to this environmentalist, the focus is on raising awareness because otherwise, all the work that is being done in terms of conservation of the environment is somewhat unsuccessful, and it is also necessary to work on the issue of grazing to have some positivity in conservation actions. .
Within the conservation of the environment, he showed that society needs to understand the importance and work together in this process to have results, highlighting that Brava is rich in biodiversity both terrestrial and marine and to preserve it is only possible with unity.
The twelfth edition of the fair under the motto “Strengthening competitiveness in the agribusiness sector” is organized as part of the municipal festivities, celebrated on June 24, and aims to “promote the development of the agrarian economy and boost the competitiveness of the sector” .
Normally, the fair takes place over two days, but this year, at the request of the exhibitors themselves, it will take place from the 21st to the 23rd, and it started with the participation of more exhibitors and greater involvement of the public in visiting the site.
