Brava: Festival Sete Sóis Sete Luas wants the island's Centrum to have a regular cultural program – FSSSL director

The director of the Sete Sóis Sete Luas Festival, Marco Abbondanza, said today, in Brava, that he is working so that the Centrum SSSL on the island has a regular cultural program.
This information was advanced in an interview with Inforpress, in a balance of the show held on Sunday night at Praça Eugénio Tavares in Nova Sintra, with Banda da Galiza, Luar na Lubre, explaining that the “great dream” of the Festival Sete Sóis Sete Luas (FSSSL) is that Brava has a regular cultural program.
But, for that, he stressed that the competent authorities have to see the need and importance of this programming on the island, because the FSSSL is “committed”, but alone it cannot do it.
In this regard, he stressed that the first “problem” that needs to be resolved is the issue of maritime connections, stressing that “it is not easy to get to Brava”, taking into account that it is not possible to make a schedule due to lack of travel schedules, which hinders and conditions the arrival of musicians and even international tourists.
Therefore, this person in charge asked the authorities to give Brava a boat schedule that is regular, possibly every day, but that is also a new boat and not a 40 or 50 year old boat that every week presents a repair problem.
“Brava deserves dignity, attention, culture”, he defended, stressing that the FSSSL has been committed to this process for a long time, presenting Brava with shows and events in the cultural and arts area, but which has also provided moments of exchange and performances at an international level with Brava musicians, members of the Brava 7Luas Band, created within the FSSSL.
On the performance of Banda Luar na Lubre on Brava Island, he explained that the FSSSL cannot miss an opportunity to animate the cultural life of the island, nor the opportunity to promote, dynamize and create opportunities for exchange.
Despite budgetary difficulties, Marco Abbondanza underlined that this performance was organized and carried out thanks to the existing partnership between the FSSSL and the region of Galicia, also framed in the celebrations of the Holy Year of Santiago de Compostela, whose objective is to promote Galician music throughout the world. .
The Band still has shows scheduled in São Filipe, on the island of Fogo, Tarrafal de Santiago, Presidency of the Republic in Praia and Santo Antão.
For his part, Francisco Tavares, mayor of Brava, praised this opportunity, because, as he evidenced, having a show by an international band, from Spain, and with an “enviable” curriculum, with 37 years of existence and that already traveled around the world "is the sign that the commitment and partnership SSSL and the city council that is already in 13 years is to continue and last".
The mayor recognized that "it is always a great gain to bring different cultures and musical styles to present the population of Brave with something that only the city council cannot".
From there, he highlighted that this partnership "brought gains" over these years in all senses, in addition to internationalization and the formation of the Brava 7Luas Band, which has already performed in other islands of the country, but also in Europe and in Réunion Islands.
“It is another step within this partnership where the municipality can only thank and strengthen this partnership it has with the SSSL association whose gains for Brava are enormous”, concluded the mayor.
