The mayor of Brava today asked the Brava public to visit the Interpretive Center (CI) in Nova Sintra, and learn more about the island's history, reinforcing that the space is not just for tourists.

Speaking to Inforpress, Francisco Tavares revealed that the IC inaugurated last May is a “fundamental piece” within the puzzle of an island that wants to be a tourist island.

Because, as he justified, “it is necessary to have a place where tourists can visit and can know the history of the island beforehand, but also receive all the necessary information to later explore the island while the natural charm and points of interest for the tourist visit ”.

Hence, it became clear that it was a piece within the tourist preparation of the island that was missing and has already materialized thanks to the partnership between the Ministry of Tourism, through the Tourism Fund, by the Municipality of Brava and by the Camões Institute of Portugal, via Associação of Mértola Heritage Defense (ADPM).

Normally, as informed by the mayor, the IC operates during normal business hours, but it can remain open if any tourism agency or hotel unit requests the chamber to keep it open at a specific time and day other than from 08:00 to 16:00 :00, if you have groups of visitors.

But, he also asks the resident population of Brave to visit the center and learn more about the history of the island, suggesting that teachers take their students to the place, as there is a “good historical review exposed there”.

This center, as he advanced, is generic, but the idea is to build thematic Interpretive Centers, in some specific places, namely Furna, Fajã d´Água and Nossa Senhora do Monte.

Still, to take one more step in the dissemination and preparation of the island as a tourist destination, Francisco Tavares informed that Brava's tourist promotion book is already ready, awaiting funding for its printing, intending to launch it on the occasion of the National Day of Culture , celebrated in October.
