The mayor of Brava announced today that the Minister of Infrastructure will pay, at the beginning of May, a visit to the island to analyze a solution for the road to Fajã d´Água.
Francisco Tavares made this announcement in statements to Inforpress, when confronted with the claims and claims of drivers and residents of the locality of Fajã d´Água who warned about the danger that the road section, where the landslide occurred, which, after two months , was opened to allow the circulation of cars to and from the area, is representing for road users.
The mayor informed that he held a meeting with the minister, bringing to the table the issue of the access road to the town of Fajã d´Água, stressing that there is already an opening of this section that was taken by the landslide and isolating the area for about two months , but that the works should continue, which did not happen.
Hence, he stressed that he had to address this matter with the minister, and at the beginning of May, Brava will receive an official visit from the minister, accompanied by the president of Estradas de Cabo Verde and the representative of the company ELEVO that started the work, to see what is really preventing the continuation of the work.
With this visit, Francisco Tavares advanced that the alternative route that began to be built, but which later did not advance, will be identified, but also the analysis of the Esparadinha-Phalal route.
But, the main thing at this stage, as shown, is to see what interventions are needed to be made immediately to resume normal circulation in the part where the opening was made for the vehicles to transit.
However, he informed that after complaints from the drivers, some interventions were made to place earth and irrigate the floor to have more tire grip, as it was already posing a danger because some cars were already skating on the spot.
Still, in the meeting with the minister, he stressed that the situation of the Rehabilitation, Requalification and Accessibility Program (PRRA) in the area of recovery and rehabilitation of housing as well as accessibility was also discussed, since, until then, in 2023, the municipality had not had no funding in that area.
Also discussed was the need to complete the requalification of the Historic Center of Nova Sintra, mainly on Rua Direita, hoping that by analyzing these situations “in loco”, the council will obtain funding for projects in these areas later this year.
