The monitors of the national physical activity program Mexi Mexê, from Brava, received today a set of work equipment in order to allow them to continue with the “dynamic” and to promote sport on the island.
The delivery was made by the Department of Youth and Sports of the Municipality of Brava, as a result of a program-contract signed between the Directorate-General for Sports and the municipality of Brava, as part of the “Rua Activa” project.
This project, according to information advanced by Councilor Mário Soares, aims to increase the practice of physical and sporting activity in the municipality, in addition to encouraging the practice of physical activity in schools, workplaces and in the community with the aim of achieving healthy lifestyles and improve the quality of life of the Cape Verdean population throughout their lives.
In addition, the program-contract provides for the training of monitors who implement the national physical activity and health program in the municipality, to develop physical education and sport for all and recreation in primary schools.
It also aims to promote in schools the development of traditional games and recreational activities in the environment, introduce the active health break (labor gymnastics and/or applied professional gymnastics), and promote the practice of sports and physical activity in public and private workplaces. .
In the light of this project, physical activity and sport will be promoted with special attention to the elderly through the creation of community groups, dissemination and promotion of offers, benefits and values of physical activity in terms of health and quality of life of the population, among others .
From now on, monitors are already equipped with equipment that allows them to work in the best way and take physical activity and health to all locations.
According to the monitors, these materials will support them in the development of other tastes and skills in children, young people, adults and the elderly and, in addition, they can even hold tournaments or even championships in some sports.
