Municipality Day/Brava: XII edition of the Agricultural Fair starts with more exhibitors and a diverse range of offers

The 12th edition of the Agricultural and Livestock Fair on the island of Brava, entitled Feira Agropecuária e Inovações-FAI'23, started today in Nova Sintra, with 23 exhibitors and a diverse range of offers and information.

At the opening act, chaired by the mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, and the delegate from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA), Ermelindo Barros, the mayor congratulated the exhibitors, underlining the fact that this year there will be more exhibitors and many different.

According to the mayor, the agricultural fair, which is now in its twelfth edition, is organized as part of the municipal festivities, celebrated on the 24th of June, and is always one of the highlights of the festivities on this day, as it aims to “promote the development of the agrarian economy and boost the competitiveness of the sector”.

Normally, the fair takes place over two days, but this year, at the request of the exhibitors themselves, it will take place from the 21st to the 23rd, and it started with the participation of more exhibitors and greater involvement of the public in visiting the site.

In view of these facts, he said that everything leads to the belief that this edition will be “better” than the previous ones, asking the residents and visitors to take advantage and enjoy the products on display, but also to make good use of the information that institutional exhibitors and NGOs have available.

"We have from messages of preservation of the environment and nature and the demonstration of the work of some NGOs, to agricultural producers, livestock farmers, processed products from the sea and other institutions", concluded the mayor.

On the part of the MAA delegation, the delegate considered that this edition under the motto “Strengthening competitiveness in the agribusiness sector”, is an “unprecedented opportunity” to promote Bravese products in terms of agriculture and other products, but also a space where exhibitors and 'experts' in certain matters can exchange experience and idealize certain situations.

As for the motto, this official highlighted that at a time when the economy is leveraging, it is necessary to bring some innovation and, simultaneously with the fair, dialogues will be produced, which he considers “enriching”, around important themes in the agricultural sector that will allow people in practical terms on the island of Brava.

Exhibitors come from different areas, from farmers, livestock farmers, gastronomy, crafts, some companies and associations, among others, both from Brava Island, but also from Fogo.
