A delegation made up of 19 health technicians, including doctors, nurses and interpreters from the American - Cape Verdean NGO "Project Health for Cape Verde" (PHCV), arrives tonight in Nova Sintra, to provide consultations.

According to information advanced to Inforpress by the doctor Júlio de Barros, the team, which will provide consultations from the 13th to the 15th of November, has as its main objective to improve the provision of primary health care in Brava, through consultations and treatments.

In addition to consultations, the same source said, the doctors will offer equipment for the delivery room, beds, consumables for everyday use in a hospital and medicines, training for health personnel on the island in the use of the new equipment.

The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) “Project Health for Cape Verde” was on Brava Island at the end of November 2018, with the aim of learning about the reality of the island and establishing connected contacts in the area of health.

This group, which already operates in other islands in the country and has been providing various types of support to the Cape Verdean community for more than 10 years, came to Brava Island at the invitation of the José Andrade Foundation and some descendants of the island.

The group includes urologists, general practitioners, surgeons and other specialists in contagious diseases, gynecologists, physiotherapists, among others.

According to information provided by the physician on duty at the Brava Health Department, Júlio Barros, some of them will remain on the island of Fogo.
