Brava: “There is no student from the 1st to the 8th year who is outside the system due to lack of material or conditions” – director of CENS

The director of the Educational Complex of Nova Sintra (CENS), in Brava, David Fernandes, assured today that there is no student from the 1st to the 8th year that is left out of the system due to lack of material or conditions.

This person in charge gave this guarantee to Inforpress, upon delivery of 65 backpacks to students of the 1st and 2nd years of Integrated Basic Education, from the Manuel Rodrigues Gomes School, offered by the association “Bravenses Unidos”, based in the United States of America.

According to David Fernandes, in the city of Nova Sintra, this is the largest primary school in the group, where they receive children from the 1st to the 4th year, with around 200 students.

He also pointed out that at the school there are students from families with different socioeconomic conditions and the materials that were delivered today were due to be delivered at the beginning of the school year, but due to some problems and bureaucracies faced with customs, it was only now possible .

"These materials will support the children's studies and reduce the difference in terms of the types of materials used by them and allow them to follow the subjects in order to achieve a certain degree of academic success", acknowledged the official.

The same added that in the backpacks, only the manuals are not found, as those used here are different from those in use in the United States.

Like the school in Mato Grande, the one in Cova Rodela, two that had also benefited previously, David Fernandes reinforced that what needs to be done is to thank those who manage to mobilize people to raise enough funds to provide moments of this type to children .

And to the parents, he asks for collaboration in the sense of following their children, in order to encourage them to preserve the materials, demonstrating to them the importance of each one.

In this sense, he said that today, it can be said categorically that from the first to the 8th year that no student is without going to school due to lack of conditions.

Now, the difference according to the same, is that one may be able to buy a backpack more expensive than another, or another material.

Dinora Cardoso, mother and guardian, praised this initiative because, as she told Inforpress, she is a single mother and her child's father has already passed away.

According to her, she is not able to give her child the materials at the height of other children, but she always does her best and with this offer, she is more relaxed because her child will be able to arrive at school with a backpack and materials at the foot of equality with others.

In turn, Adalgisa Santos, who mobilized these offers and has been living in the United States for over 20 years, said that this act is a fulfillment of her promises and the realization of her dreams.

Because, according to her, when leaving Cape Verde, she made a promise to try to support those who need it most, because she comes from a humble family and has gone through many difficulties.

Hence, with a group of ten people, the association has been supporting several schools for more than 15 years and they intend to continue, as a way of “diminishing” the differences between students, at least at school in terms of materials, and to support in the area of food.
