This information was advanced to Inforpress by the still president, Carlos Costa, remembering that his team's mandate has come to an end and that they do not intend to run for re-election.
The head of the African Independence Party of Cape Verde (PAICV) confirmed that a team is already on the ground and that they are organizing the electoral process for the regional elections scheduled for 20 May.
Carlos Costa specified that the party has already presented the calendar that establishes the dates for the entire electoral process, from the presentation of candidacies, which runs until May 5th, the withdrawal process accepted until May 18th, as well as the identification of irregularities, correction of the same, availability of lists of militants, among other aspects that are inserted in this process.
According to the same source, the process's organizing team has made the disclosure, zone by zone, and it has been reported that there are many militants interested in joining a list, although it cannot yet provide details on possible candidacies.
Carlos Costa highlighted the importance of this process, underlining that both locally and nationally, the militants are aware that it is necessary to organize” the party so that it can present itself “stronger” in the next electoral clashes.
The team led by Carlos Costa was elected in May 2019.
