Brava: PAICV says that 2019 for the Brava people was marked as a year of “many difficulties” in all areas

The president of the PAICV Regional Political Commission (CPR – PAICV), Carlos Costa, said today that 2019 was marked as a year of “many difficulties”, in all areas for the people of Brave.

Carlos Costa made these statements in an interview with Inforpress, when he was taking stock of the year that ends today, noting that when it comes to employment, both the Chamber and the Government “promised” jobs to everyone, but that “until now, jobs jobs offered last for three months, and the rest of the time is unemployed”.

“We are talking about a year not marked by a bad agricultural year and at this moment, at the end of the year, we have not heard or seen any solutions. Families and farmers, breeders are experiencing many difficulties, because many of them have placed all their hopes and all their savings in agriculture, in yet another year that has not been good”, said the CPR leader.

He also advanced that so far, neither the city council nor the Government have “practical solutions” to remedy this situation.

According to him, the city council of Brava “seems” like a Government delegation, where the only works that are being carried out on the island are Government works, noting that even so “it is generating many jobs”.

The party official stated that the local authority is “indebted, with more than one hundred thousand escudos in bank debts”, and “with no prospect” of improving the living conditions of people, since, he added, what was done with the “No return” money to give people some hope.

“We are talking about a Government that promised happiness for everyone and a council that says it is fulfilling it, but deep down, people in the rural world are abandoned, some work was done, some bathrooms, some concrete, but many people stayed outside and suffered”, analyzed Carlos Costa.

In an accusatory way, he stressed that we are talking about a council where, when there is an opportunity to employ construction workers, it “chooses” the institution’s conductor to employ, “instead of giving the opportunity” to a bricklayer or people in the area.

“When a council discriminates against foremen, bricklayers and servants in favor of a council official or a member of their party, leaving master builders sitting in the square, it is not managing or creating jobs for them. the unemployed”, accused the same source.

Going further, he said that the city council of Brava "lives" on advertisements and publicity, using facebook to post some works, which he says he does not condemn, but he added that his team is of the opinion that they should use facebook to post the which is not good either.

“We are talking about a camera that only manages facebook, trying to show people reality, but reality is not on facebook, but walking around, talking to people and knowing what they need”, said Carlos Costa.

In view of the facts listed, the president of CPR said that his team thinks it is a year that "was marked by many difficulties and we are ending it without any encouragement for the people".
