Brava: Brava parishes welcome young people from Fogo Island for religious exchange
A group of young people from the parish of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, on the island of Fogo, is on Ilha Brava to carry out a summer camp together with young people from the two parishes in Brava.
Speaking to Inforpress, the president of the Youth Secretariat of the parish of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, Keila Centeio, said that this was an initiative of the secretariat, with the aim of organizing and promoting activities aimed at young people with a religious, educational program , cultural, sporting and recreational.
For a week, the aim is to “foster mutual help and team spirit among young people”, who are working with young people from Brave from the parishes of São João Baptista and Nossa Senhora do Monte.
Likewise, he informed that there are debates on free themes, where to kick off the debates they took advantage of a theme that is found in the book “Cristo Vive” of the Encyclical that Pope Francis wrote for young people, where they will reflect on “What is what the word of God says about young people”.
Keila Centeio says she hopes that young people understand the main objective of the summer camp, which aims to show them how they can help each other, because she defends that young people are with young people, but also, she underlined that they intend to create a spirit of team among young people, in order to understand each other, know how to detect and understand the pain, restlessness and concern of each young person.
In turn, Kleber Monteiro, a member of the group that came from the island of Fogo, praised this initiative, stressing that for a week, they will have the opportunity to socialize, fraternize, with each other, but also to share knowledge and explore things new.
From the programme, he highlighted that there is a range of activities, of religious, cultural, sports and social nature, with the aim of expanding the horizon of today's young people, taking into account the challenges they face in society, a set of activities that according to the it will allow young people to strengthen themselves in different sectors.
From Brava Island, Hélito Rodrigues stressed that the program was designed and designed for young people, allowing them to build a better union with young people from the other parish, but also to excel in sharing knowledge and experiences, especially in terms of spiritual strengthening.
