Brava: Parish priest challenges Christian faithful and entities to unite for the reconstruction of the church

The priest launched this challenge at the end of the Eucharistic celebration, stressing that it is necessary for the community to unite and join hands so that the works do not suffer stoppages.

According to the same source, the works have already started, and are still in the demolition phase, cleaning the place and preparing the land for the reconstruction of the church.

“The church is us first, living stones of the Temple of the Lord, and then, the church is ours” he emphasized, stressing that everyone is called to rebuild it with life, effort, fatigue, and maybe, with sacrifice and the cross, economically speaking.

“It is only possible if you have a “djunta-mon” (to join hands, in Portuguese), because Friar José cannot do it alone, or any other parishioner cannot build the church”, he pointed out.

In the same light, he advised the faithful to ask directly those who are in charge of the work before thinking or drawing untrue conclusions about what is happening, in order to avoid noise and the circulation of rumours.

He announced that at the moment the value that the church has for the reconstruction of this church does not even reach half of the budget foreseen for these works, which are around 37 million escudos, also highlighting that they received “so many promises that were like clouds carried by the wind”, because, he reinforced , “these were promises without roots and without fulfillment, which delayed the rebuilding of the church for a long time”.

The parish priest did not fail to show his desire to celebrate the mass in honor of the patron saint of the parish next year in his church, stressing that it will certainly have a different flavor, as there will be no sources of distraction during the celebration.

Faced with this publicly launched challenge, Inforpress questioned the mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, who was present, about his position on this matter, and the mayor undertook to the media and the people of Brava to “continue to be a partner in these works and to provide monetary support at the appropriate time”.

According to the mayor, since the first moment the city council has been a partner, at a time when Orlando Balla was still the president, reinforcing that this, at this moment, is one of the main activists of this dream of rebuilding this church.

The mayor reinforced his commitment to this partnership until he saw the church built, but he stressed that it has to be a great job and a great “joint-mon” of all Braveenses and non-Braveenses who have some sensitivity and friendship for the reconstruction of the church in the parish, since the old church, over 100 years old, was already in danger of collapsing.

“The autarchy accepts the challenge and guarantees to the Media and the people of Brave that it will continue to be a partner, and, in due time, will provide financial support”, he announced, justifying that the city council recognizes in all churches “the great social role” in the formation of the human being, braveense and in this case of the citizens of the parish of Nossa Senhora do Monte.

Hence, it considers it to be a challenge for everyone as an institution, person, Brave, Catholic, and for anyone who likes to support an institution with a strong social nature.

On this same path, Viriato Gomes, a native citizen of the parish of Nossa Senhora do Monte, left his commitment as an active member of the church and society, committing himself to work with the community so that together they can work on the reconstruction of this church.

Well, he made it clear that the church are the Christians themselves, children of God and they are the ones who must unite to have the church rebuilt.
