The pastor of the Nazarena church in Brava, Roberto Silva, today asked the people of Brava not to ask God for material riches during this festive season, but for wisdom to deal with the challenges they face.

Roberto Silva made these statements to Inforpress during activities carried out at the church, alluding to the celebration of Christmas, in which he stressed that the main message he transmits on this day is the joy of the birth of Jesus.

For, according to him, “they say that Jesus died for us, but if Jesus is not born how could he die for us”, he questioned.

Therefore, he explained the reason for today's celebration, adding that they always take advantage of Easter to celebrate the death of Jesus, because, he stressed, "birth without death is meaningless".

He also stressed that for the public in Brave, as it has been since 1961, it always leaves the same message, that at Christmas the birth of Jesus is celebrated and on the eve they organize a set of activities, as a way of reminding people that “the real The purpose of the celebration is not a gift or parties, but Jesus Christ”.

That is, he emphasized, “the birth and the work he came to do through his birth and death on the cross”.

For the year ahead, the pastor left a challenge: “Just like when Solomon was presented with the challenge of reigning the throne after David, in which he, when faced with such a responsibility, did not ask for more material wealth, but wisdom to deal with everything what was ahead, that people do the same”, asked the religious.

He therefore suggested that people spend this festive season and enter the new year asking God for wisdom to deal with their daily lives and with the challenges that will be presented during the year 2020.

The Nazareno church on Ilha Brava has carried out a series of activities during the Christmas season, as a way of showing people “the real meaning” of this festivity.

Today, he performs recitals with children, declamation of poems about Christmas and, finally, a cantata was presented, considered by the pastor the main activity, because, he underlined, this talks about the joy of Jesus being born.
