Brava: Six Cape Verdean personalities residing in the US receive medals of recognition
The Embassy of Cape Verde in Washington DC and the Consulate General of Cape Verde in Boston today delivered medals of recognition to six Cape Verdean personalities residing in the United States of America.
The Embassy of Cape Verde in Washington DC and the Consulate General of Cape Verde in Boston today delivered medals of recognition to six Cape Verdean personalities residing in the United States of America.
In a press release, which Inforpress had access to through one of the honorees, it is explained that the medals were awarded by the former President of the Republic of Cape Verde, Jorge Carlos de Almeida Fonseca, to personalities of the resident Cape Verdean communities in the United States.
The communiqué states that in recognition of the invaluable contribution and meritorious effort of each person on behalf of the Cape Verdean nation, in the dissemination, promotion, construction and affirmation of the country's culture and values, the then President of the Republic decided to honor, by Decree-Law n.º 28/2021, of October 29, published in Official Bulletin n.º 107, Series I, the six personalities.
Among them, is Jorge Pedro Barbosa who will be decorated with the First Class of the Medal Vulcão, the reverend António Jaime Nobre Leite, with the First Class of the Medal of Merit, Laura Pires-Hester, with the First Class of the Medal of Merit , Moisés Rodrigues, with the First Class Medal of Merit, Carlos Spínola, with the Second Class Medal of Merit and Maria da Conceição Rosa Fonseca Fragoso (Sãozinha Fonseca), with the first degree of the Order of the Dragoeiro.
This ceremony will be chaired by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cape Verde to the United States of America, José Luís Livramento.
