Fourth-year students from different courses at the Intercontinental University of Cape Verde (UNICA) are on Brava Island to hold a health fair this Saturday, 28, at Escola Secundária Eugénio Tavares.
This information was advanced to Inforpress by the student Lucília Amado who explained that they are a group of students from the Nursing, Sports, Physiotherapy and Clinical Analysis courses, and the objective is to bring actions about health to the population of Brave.
According to this Nursing student, this is her own initiative with which she intends to measure blood pressure, blood glucose measurement, capillary blood glucose, body mass index, some gymnastics, aerobics, massages, among other activities.
Asked about the reason for choosing Brava Island, Lucília Amado said that she thinks the island is small and based on the information they have, the island has little access to health, taking into account that the population has to travel to neighboring islands for consultations, some tests or treatments.
In view of this, he stated that they want to provide support in the area.
In terms of support, he added that they had a partnership with EMPROFAC, the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), Interilhas, the Municipality of Brava, the Health Department and the Ministry of Education, through the island's school delegation. .
