Brava: Associação de Combate Contra Cancro with screening campaign for uterine, breast and prostate cancers
The Cabo Verdean Association to Fight Cancer (ACLCC), in partnership with the Brava Health Department, will promote screening for uterine, breast and prostate cancer on the 29th and 30th in Brava.
To Inforpress, the obstetric nurse and person in charge of the Maternal and Child Program/Family Planning (PMI/PF) sector at the Brava Health Department, Edna Campinha, said that for a better organization she is asking all interested parties to make the registration at the police station, as the intention is to track at least 300 women and 200 men.
According to the same source, on the 29th they will work from 2:30 pm, in the town of Furna, but, on the 30th, they will work all day in Nova Sintra, at the health station, to assist people from all parts of the island.
Asked about the objective of the campaign, she recalled that in 2019 the ACLCC had already carried out such an action and the intention is to carry out screening to analyze the situation in relation to these types of cancer, taking into account that Brava does not have the resources that allow patients to have a 'check-up' regularly.
As for the results, he informed that these will be sent to the police station to be delivered to the patients and, in the case of exams that present some anomaly, the patients are referred to specialist consultations to have the proper follow-up.
Regarding the exams, this person in charge informed that they will be done through palpation, cytology, touch and Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA).
Taking into account the importance of these exams, Edna Campinha asks for the collaboration of all patients, mainly women aged between 25 and 64 years old, and men aged between 40 and 74 years old, to participate, by registering at the secretary of the Delegacia de Brava Health.
