Brava: Autarchy promises to deliver the “Fish Market” in June 2020

The mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, today demonstrated his concern regarding the constraints caused by the works at “Mercadinho de Peixe” and promises to work so that it is ready in June 2020.

Speaking to Inforpress, the mayor explained that the municipality started the works with its own resources since the building/remodeling of the “Mercadinho de Peixe” is one of the “structuring” works that will be financed by the Environment Fund, until the end of the mandate , together with the acquisition of containers and litter bins that have already been implemented, the acquisition of a garbage truck, among other projects.

However, he stressed that the impossibility of, until now, re-operating the old garbage compactor truck, forced his municipal management to prioritize the acquisition of a new garbage truck to the detriment of intervention in the fish market.

He added that the process of acquiring the garbage truck was already advanced, with the order placed, 50 percent (%) already paid and they were awaiting its arrival before the end of the year.

For the time being, he informed that the solution for selling fish in Nova Sintra is now in the same space or selling it from door to door, as has always been done and with all the inconveniences that the municipality claims to recognize, both for fishmongers and for the population as for the city of Nova Sintra.

Francisco Tavares assured that his team will do everything possible so that, after finishing the process of acquiring the garbage truck, restart the process of the fish market works so that, in June 2020, they can present the island with this infrastructure.

Since 2018, fishmongers have sought out Inforpress, claiming better conditions in the fish market, which according to them, due to the lack of these, have been hampered in sales, due to lack of convenience, a place to protect the fish from flies, the sun or rain.

Despite these fishmongers, many customers have contested the way in which the fish is exposed to the sun or other designs of nature, fearing that when they buy the product it will not harm their health.
